A seasonal fruit tree that produces small sweet tasting fleshy delights, Rambutan is seen glistening along the roads of Sri Lanka especially during the months of June and July. A reddish coloured fruit that boasts of a leathery skin covered in small black spiny like hairs, Rambutan is technically classified as a berry. This sweet yet mildly acidic translucent fruit is juicy and contains a high concentration of vitamin C, fiber and several minerals making it a healthy addition to your fruit intake.
It is also known to be a rich source of antioxidants that helps in your immune system to fight against disease development. It is also ideal for skin health. Since Rambutan is a good source of fiber, it perfectly supports digestive health also. Rambutans can be consumed in its raw form when well ripe which is the crowd favorite while it can also be used for various desserts such as puddings and sorbets.
