Negombo is located approximately 37 km north of the commercial capital of Colombo in Sri Lanka. It is located at the mouth of the Negombo lagoon. The major beach resort in the West Coast is Negombo. The wide sandy beaches and the safe sea are the main attractions of Negombo and it is perfectly located within 7 km from the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, Sri Lanka.

Kalpitiya

The Kalpitiya peninsula, Kalpitiya Islands and Kalpitiya Beaches are a much visited tourist destination in Sri Lanka. Kalpitiya is located 130 km north of the Bandaranayke International Airport in Katunayake, while it is an exquisite coastal region located in the Western coastal belt, north of Colombo. Kalpitiya is a peninsula set in between the deep lagoon of Puttalam to the east and the magnificent Indian Ocean to the west.

Colombo

Colombo, Sri Lanka‘s bustling commercial hub, is located on the country’s west coast and with a population of between 800,000 and one million (estimates vary) is by far the country’s biggest city, as well as the most developed. Its natural harbour at the mouth of the Kelani River was a magnet for successive traders and conquerors – initially the Arab merchants, then Portuguese, Dutch and British imperialists.

Mount Lavinia

Mount Lavinia – The town is largely a middle class and mostly residential suburb of Colombo that had until now escaped most of the damaging industrialisation of neighbouring cities and urban centres. Famed for its “Golden Mile” of beaches, Mount Lavinia has often been a hot spot for tourism and nightlife. It is one of the most liberal regions in Sri Lanka and also plays host to the island’s annual gay pride, including the famed Rainbow Kite Festival.

Wadduwa

If a big part of your Sri Lankan holiday revolves around the local beach life, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Wadduwa’s strip of golden sandy beaches is well worth writing home about. In fact, the shores here are said to be one of the most beautiful in the region, envied for its long sandy curve and gin-clear seas.

Kalutara

Holidays in Kalutara offer travellers a laid back and relaxed atmosphere with the combination of a generous helping of authentic Sri Lankan culture, not to mention a dash of old colonial charm. This is an up-and-coming resort town with a wonderful palm fringed beach, although the nightlife remains pretty low key, so you won’t get to dance till dawn.

Beruwala

Beruwala is located 55 km south of Colombo and 92km south of CMB Colombo Bandaranayake International Airport at Katunayake, Negombo. Beruwala is the very first main beach resort in the south western coastal belt that tourists visit when they travel past the beaches of Kalutara and Wadduwa located south of Colombo. 15km south of Kalutara is Beruwala.
