함반토타 디스트릭트 소개

함반토타는 스리랑카 남동부 해안 지역에 있는 시골 마을입니다.또한 스리랑카 남부 주 함반토타 지역의 수도이기도 합니다.콜롬보에서 약 240km 떨어진 함반토타는 전략적 항구 및 상업 중심지로 변모하고 있으며 광범위한 인프라 개발을 진행하고 있습니다.넓은 모래 해변 옆에 위치한 함반토타는 인근 명소를 방문하기에 편리한 위치에 있습니다.

분달라 국립공원은 함반토타에서 동쪽으로 20km 떨어져 있고 위라윌라 보호구역은 조금 더 떨어져 있습니다.루후나 국립공원과 카타라가마 사원은 이 도시에서 쉽게 갈 수 있는 다른 명소입니다.

남부 지방에 대해

스리랑카 남부 지방은 갈레, 마타라, 함반토타 지역으로 구성된 작은 지리적 지역입니다.자급자족 농업과 어업은 이 지역 대다수의 사람들의 주요 수입원입니다.

남부 지방의 주요 랜드마크로는 얄라 및 우다왈라위 국립공원의 야생동물 보호구역, 성스러운 도시 카타라가마, 고대 도시인 티사마하라마, 키린다, 갈레 등이 있습니다.(갈레는 고대 도시이지만 포르투갈 침공 이전부터 살아남은 것은 거의 없습니다.)포르투갈 시대에는 딕웰라 출신의 안다레 (Andare) 와 마타라 지역 데니피티야 출신의 가자만 노나 (Gajaman Nona) 라는 두 명의 유명한 싱할라 시인이 서민에 관한 시를 작곡했습니다.

About Hambantota District

Hambantota is a rural town in southeastern coastal area of Sri Lanka. It is also the capital of the Hambantota District in the Southern Province of  Sri Lanka. Approximately 240 kms from Colombo, Hambantota is in the midst of transformation into a strategic port and commercial centre, undergoing extensive infrastructure development. Flanked by sweeping sandy beaches, Hambantota is a convenient location from which to visit nearby sights.

The Bundala National Park lays 20 km east of Hambantota and the Weerawila Sanctuary a little further off. The Ruhuna National Park and the Kataragama Temple are other attractions that can be accessed easily from this city.

About Southern Province

The Southern Province of Sri Lanka is a small geographic area consisting of the districts of Galle, Matara and Hambantota. Subsistence farming and fishing is the main source of income for the vast majority of the people of this region.

Important landmarks of the Southern Province include the wildlife sanctuaries of the Yala and Udawalawe National Parks, the holy city of Kataragama, and the ancient cities of Tissamaharama, Kirinda and Galle. (Although Galle is an ancient city, almost nothing survives from before the Portuguese invasion.) During the Portuguese period there were two famous Sinhalese poets called Andare who was from Dickwella and Gajaman Nona who was from Denipitiya in Matara District, composing poems on common man.
